My favorite part of this is how the setting sunlight reflects off of the clouds.Equipment
Canon 5D Mark III. Handheld, although I might have used a fence for stability.Inspiration
I often drive by this clinic, which is not very far from my home. I couldn't help but notice how the sun set behind it. I had been admiring it for years! Finally I contacted the owners and asked to have permission to come on the property to shoot it. In exchange for the permission, I gifted them a large metal print of it, which now hangs in their office where their clients can see it.Editing
I started with one RAW file and duplicated it with different exposures, then merged them together in Photomatix pro. I finished it off in Photoshop. In my camera bag
I use my Canon 7D for sports, due to it's fast FPS. For just about everything else I use my Canon 5D Mark III. I have a few Canon lens but my current favorite is the 50mm, the "nifty fifty". I'd like to invest in more prime lens in the future for sure! I've got a few "classic" cameras at home - Polaroids, Kodaks, and some other film cameras. I'm hoping to explore with film more in the future!Feedback
You don't realize how quickly a sunset changes and finishes until you try to capture it. When doing large spaces like this keep moving to get different vantage points, and keel shooting. The light can change very quickly. Be respectful of the owner's requests; there were certain parts of the property that I was asked not to go on, and I stayed away. I could see wanted to do more sessions here in the future, so I wanted to be a good guest.
