Location
This photo was taken near Jackson on the West Coast of the South Island in New Zealand. It is actually a very small creek with my camera close enough to make it look bigger.Time
This was taken late in the evening just before dark. I was experimenting with leaving the shutter open as I had never attempted a shot like this before.Lighting
Just dusk and the natural light. Had to adjust the settings a few times to get a shot I was happy with.Equipment
I used a Canon 650D with a standard 18-55mm lens. I used the rocks to rest my camera on and the timer to take the photo so I didn't get any movement from pushing the button.Inspiration
I like water and waterfalls and seeing other shots similar to this I wanted one of my own.Editing
I took a few shots before I got the right one. It was just trial and error with the settings. In my camera bag
I carry my camera (Canon 650D), two lenses (18-55mm and 55-200mm) and my remote. My tripod is always in the boot of the car.Feedback
Always try to take this type of shot near sunset. Allows the shutter to be open longer to get that misty look with the water.
