Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at hope valley Edale in the Peak district Derbyshire. Its the highest point called Mam Tor its a 517m hill a very popular walking area. The Os grid reference is SK123832. Here you will find a hill fort dating back to the bronze age.

Time

This was taken around 5am early summer 2015

Lighting

The light is fantastic as you can see especially when its a little cloudy. The mist rises in the valley witch also sets the seen.

Equipment

Camera fuji xt1 18-55mm lens a nd soft grad filter and a benro carbon fiber tripod with a small Beike ball head for light weight.

Inspiration

Edale is a favorite place of mine for photography you have the fantastic sunrise water falls, moors, rooks, and the wildlife.

Editing

I use Lightroom 5 and Silver Efex Pro 2 for black and white processing.

In my camera bag

For my landscape photography i use a fuji xt1 with the18-55mm aso the fuji 16mm. Also the 35mm f2. As for a nd Filter kit i use the Hoya system. Haida Big stopper and little stopper i highly recommend these as there is no color cast. For wildlife i would use the fuji xf 100-400mm 4.5-5.6 with a 1x4 TC i love this lens. I try to keep as light as possible the fuji system is fantastic.

Feedback

I would say the most important thing you need beside your camera is a good tripod try to spend a little extra on one. I use a carbon fiber one to keep the weight down i am not a fan of the center pole ones i use one with longer legs. These are more stable and give you the hight if your on a hill side or in water ect. When your out shooting don;t be afraid to talk to other photographers most are happy to help. As trying to capture sunsets and sunrises it can be very early mornings and late evenings hopping for that magical moment and can come with no success. Don't give up there is plenty of good information on the internet and magazines to read also you tube can be help full.
