This is the beginning of Mile Canyon located in Langtry, TX. When the Rio Grande floods the waters rush through this canyon creating a waterfall. The entire canyon is then washed out taking with it anything in its path. Early settlers came here to construct a railroad in the mid 1800's, there is evidence of washed out railroads and rail cars throughout the canyon. Settlers had to build it bigger and better to avoid the flood waters.
