This is an ancient archaeological site named Buffalo Dive for its prehistoric story. Thousands of years ago early "cavemen" would use this canyon for its gaping walls to run buffalo over the edge and plummet them to their death. They would then climb down and salvage all the meat, wool, and bones that they could use. The downfall to their plan was that buffalo run in herds and they couldn't control the number of buffalo that would fall at a time. This eventually lead to extinction of the buffalo in this area.
