Here is a one single exposure of the sculpture of a dog with milkyway above which I shot in NZ.
In the 19th century, Scottish shepherds came to work on the pastoral runs of the eastern South Island. The high country could not have been farmed successfully without the border collies they brought with them.
The Border Collie is a working and herding dog breed developed in the Anglo-Scottish border region for herding livestock, especially sheep.
It was specifically bred for intelligence and obedience. To honor these ‘canine Scots’, a statue of a collie has been raised at Lake Tekapo.
I didn't have much of a challenge photographing this beautiful statue (with the milkyway above) specially with the crowd as there was no one around even though it is hardly 20 meters away from the church of good shepherd which is always crowded.
