I shot this one was during my 2nd trip to Echuca when we hired a houseboat for a week. It was my first evening on the houseboat at Murray River. The clouds did their part with this amazing formation over the river. I could not use tripod to bracket the shots as the boat was constantly moving but the clouds were properly exposed and sharp even though I had to boost up the Iso just a little.
I must also mention that this river is a border between Victoria and New South Wales, I was at the border of New South Wales and Victoria here and this river belongs to both the states, not just one.

Would love to see some detail brought out of the shadows but the shot is ace and those clouds look awesome!

Thanks Davidrelph, true that but this was a one single exposure shot in the evening and since I was on a houseboat I could not use tripod to bracket the shots. And lastly processed only via lightroom. I might retouch the image some day. :)

how exquisite! What delight me is the contrast of lines, those which are coming from the top and the bottom, and those which meet the diagonal on the horizontal...several planes lining up to give energy to each other.

This was shot during my trip to Echuca. We made a trip over a houseboat across Murray River, NSW. It was my first evening there with my new camera I was excited to try, test and explore.Time
The time was around 18:00 hrs. The clouds were crazy that evening and made me wonder if that's a usual formation here or is it just today. The colors were vibrant and sun was already behind the horizon.Lighting
As you can see in the image, the sky was getting darker by the minute and I was taking as many photos as I could. Since I was on a houseboat I could not use a tripod as here was a constant movement. For that reason I also could not bracket the shots as every shot was different from another.Equipment
I used a Nikon D810 with 14-24mm f2.8 lens.Inspiration
The clouds and their reflection on water was beautiful. We were some where on Murray river with no one around, no traffic or city lights. I was new to landscape photography but you know the image is going to come good when you are at the right location.Editing
This was processed via lightroom. I played around the contrast, shadows, colors and some clarity details at the foreground. In my camera bag
I carry 2 cameras and 4 lenses which are: Nikon D810 (FX) and D7100 (DX), Nikkor AF-S 14-24 and 24-70mm f2.8 G ED lenses, Nikkor AF-S 70-200mm f2.8 G ED VR II lens and the last one which I rarely use is AF-S Nikkor 18-105mm 3.5-5.6 zoom lens. I use a Gitzo Explorer series II tripod with Gitzo series II Magnesium off-centre ball head. For shutter release I use Hahnel Giga T Pro II remote control. For Filters I use Hoya circular polarizer, Hoya and Tiffen 10 stop ND filters. I also carry a shade 10 welding glass which fits my 18-105mm lens. I also carry a 3rd party remote for D7100 and last but not least 2 torches 2200 Lm zoomable CREE led and a normal flash light that fits on the head.Feedback
It will be better if you bracket images like these. For the fact that I did not bracket the shots, I had to take a different approach to post process the image without showing all the details and still making it look good. Long exposures to blur the water does not always works the best as many people believe so. And last but not least, go out, explore, you never know where and what view is waiting for your shot.
