Location
This was taken up Big Cottonwood Canyon in Utah just below Brighton Ski Resort. The walkway is 0.8 mile around the lake and fairly easy for all levels of hikers. One trip to the lake we were able to see moose hanging out in the water.Time
We take drives quite often up in the mountains and this particular day it was a beautiful sunny day with a few clouds just before noon. To me, this adds a bit of character to the shot with the reflection in the water.Lighting
I decided to take advantage of standing in the shade to capture the beautiful colors without the harsh light from standing in the sun, plus it was the perfect shot to get the reflections of the clouds and mountain in the water.Equipment
I used my Kodak PIXPRO AZ501 camera for this shot. I didn't have my Canon and tripod with me so this was taken with what I had on hand.Inspiration
I love exploring new places & enjoy being one with nature and the walk around this lake is one that everyone finds relaxing. It it a beautiful lake with many areas to photograph from and capture that perfect shot, and this one stopped me in my tracks. The lighting was perfect and the scene was set for me. Perfect timing!Editing
I didn't have to do too much post-processing, just a little color enhancing to make it look exactly how I saw it through my eyes.In my camera bag
I normally carry my Canon T3 with the 18-55 lens, 75-300 lens, and 500-1000 lens along with my Kodak Pixpro, a video camera, my tripod, ND filters and variety of other color filters, two wide angle lenses and macro lens.Feedback
My best advice is to be patient, waiting for the perfect shot can be time consuming. A little patience can give you the world at your fingertips, and a great shot too! Plus, with patience, you can enjoy the beauty and sounds that come with it. Timing is everything, because if I would have been an half hour earlier or later, this shot would have looked quite different.
