Location
This photo was taken in the little town of Pottersville, NY in the Adirondack Mountains.Time
We were driving home from Lake Placid and stopped at a Nature Center on our way home. It was still fairly early, so we were happy that it was open around 10 am when we got there.Lighting
Nothing but natural light here. I did have to bump the ISO up to 1000 as it was quite shady due to all the trees.Equipment
This was shot on my Nikon D5300 with my Tamron 28-75 2.8 lens, this was at 52 mm.Inspiration
Truly, nature inspired this photo. The location was absolutely gorgeous, and I loved seeing the reflection on the water with all the glorious fall colors. The way the light was hitting the water really drew me to this spot.Editing
Just some basic tweaking in LightRoom, I definitely had to reduce noise as my ISO was so high.In my camera bag
My Nikon D5300, extra batteries, SD Cards and a remote trigger. My favorite lens is my Tamron 28-75 2.8, that is usually on my camera. I also have a 90 mm Macro lens (also good for portraiture) and my 50 mm prime. Also, a small portable tripod as I don't usually like to lug my heavy tripod around (I know, I know...).Feedback
Obviously if you can arrange it, try not to shoot midday. Sometimes, you just don't have the luxury to go at dawn or sunset, so you make the best of the time that you are there, and use your equipment to its' best advantage. I happen to love nature and nature walks, so I am rarely without a camera when I do them. I guess that would be my best tip, always have your camera with you, if you don't have it, you don't have a chance at capturing anything!
