Behind The Lens
Location
It's taken in a beach of my hometown, Pärnu. A summer-capital of Estonia.Time
Me and my classmates (Business Administration) were walking around because of one lesson and when the lesson ended, I went to take my car from the parking slot and saw that magnificent sky. The only option was taking the shot. As it was taken in November, and it goes dark pretty early at that time of the year, then I suppose the picture was taken at something like 1700 or 1800.Lighting
All I can say about lighting is, that every sunset is unique. So I can't tell how to use flash to take such a photo. Didn't use any extra lighting other than natural light.Equipment
I'm pretty sure I took this photo with my (now to be sank) Canon EOS 600D with kit (18-55) lens. I had not invested into lenses at that point.Inspiration
Like I already have said - every sunset is unique. And well, this one looked extra ordinary for me. If I would had not taken this photo, I suppose I would still be mad at myself.Editing
This photo is from the time I still used to shoot in JPG (folks, NEVER do this stupidity) and I knew basically nothing about photo editing. All that was done with this photo was adding a bit contrast. If only I would have if not RAW, at least the original OOC photo of this image. If only...In my camera bag
Considering that I managed to destroy most of my equipment on my last trip to amazing Malta, then I'm using Canon EOS 350D (Rebel XT) with nifty-fifty f/1.8 attached to it. Not even carrying a bag, but the camera is on my side/back with my home-made dual-camera-strap (found it very useful when shooting a wedding). Depending on a shoot I may take a tripod, 70-300 and/or 18-55 lens, 5500K light and/or reflector with me. I like to think that less is more. If I fail to take a shot with my basic package, then at least I have a reason to go back.Feedback
This is something unique that can't be foreseen, but go find a place where sun lands into the water (be it lake, sea, whatever), plan the shot in your head, what will be on picture and what will not. And then hope. If it fails one day, go back next one. And like that day-after-day. The sky is coloured for only a moment so you have to be ready to take a shot similar to this. Or well, another option is being ultra-lucky like it was on my case ;)
