Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the Tropical Butterfly House at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle, WA. That is one of my favorite places to take photos of one of my favorite subjects - butterflies.

Time

I don't remember exactly what time of day it was faken, but it was late morning/early afternoon.

Lighting

The butterfly happened to be fairly close to a window so no flash was used.

Equipment

This was taken with a Canon EOS T5 using a Canon100 mm macro lens.

Inspiration

I happened to be in the right place at the right time!

Editing

The only post-processing I ever use is sharpening, noise removal and cropping. I prefer the color to remain true to the source.

In my camera bag

I am just staring out, so I don't have a whole lot of equipment. I currently have a Canon EOS Rebel T6. I also have four lenses: a standard lens, a telephoto lens, a macro lens and a wide-angle lens. I also keep my battery charger and a few memory cards in my bag.

Feedback

I tend to seek out butterfly habitats wherever I go. Getting a butterfly to land where you want it to is impossible, so take many photos in hopes that a couple of them turn out. I usually have my husband with me who is good at pointing out opportunities I didn't see on my own. Be prepared to aim and shoot on the fly (literally!).
