I’m a big fan of Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner. Recently, I heard that Scott has decided to make a sequel. Normally, I hate sequels, but Blade Runner was such a compelling and fascinating film that I have to geek out and tell you that I am completely ecstatic about it. This is an imagined Nexus 5 Series replicant. They were succeeded by the Nexus 6 replicant that were harder to discern whether they were human or not, their creator describing them as “more human than human.” Nexus 6 were hardier, stronger, more vital, and would not die easily and without a fight. I imagined the Nexus 5 as more observational and frail. Too me, there is such a beautiful melancholia around the replicants—these creatures meant to be human and then denied the life any human should have.
