Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken at my in-laws home on a quiet country road. They have beautiful flower gardens encircling their home and this year I decided to take a few macros and capture that beauty.Time
I remember taking my sister-in-law out to help her practice with my new macro filters, and I saw this flower and just loved the vibrant colors. So I took a few shots and this ended up being my favorite from the day! I took this around 3pm on a lovely Sunday afternoon.Lighting
The sun was behind the clouds that afternoon which made for great lighting! I wanted the picture to look a little more underexposed so the colors would be richer.Equipment
I shot this with a Nikon D3200, 50mm lens and had the Vivitar Series I Lens +2 and +4 attached.Inspiration
I've recently been so in love with capturing tiny details that usually get overlooked. I ordered some macro filters and just went crazy! I love flowers to begin with and I've seen so many beautiful shots on pinterest, that I had to try my own.Editing
I'm a Lightroom only chic, and I also love using Pretty Presets Collections. I used their Aquarius V2 preset on this photo. Once click edit and done!In my camera bag
I have officially upgraded to a new camera! So I now pack my Nikon D610 (love it) and my 50mm 1.4. I'm still working on acquiring more lenses...one step at a time! I also pack my Vivitar filters, plenty of SD cards, extra batteries, my cleaning kit, a reflector and maybe a snack or two depending on what I'm shooting that day!Feedback
I always try to get several different angles, the lighting changes and then you have a whole new picture! And when shooting macro with just filters you have to be very patient, even a slight breeze can blur your focus point. The brighter the day the better, that way you can shoot at a higher f stop and have more of the details in focus!
