Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Central Park in the heart of New York City. This spot has a lot of significance for me because my husband proposed to me in front of this fountain. I think this is one of the loveliest spots in NYC and every time I see this photo, I remember the feeling of the city and the special moments my husband and I shared in this very spot.

Time

This photo was taken in the summer around dusk. It was just starting to get dark so you could see the tiled ceiling lit up really nicely.

Lighting

I really like the juxtaposition of natural light around the fountain and the artificial light from the tiled ceiling.

Equipment

This was actually shot on my iPhone 5c. I didn't have a camera at the time. But my husband says the best camera is the one you have in your hand, so I made the best use of my iPhone camera until I had something better.

Inspiration

I fell in love with the beauty of NYC and while I was living there, I took as many photos of beautiful things as I could.

Editing

It's been a while since I took this photo, but if I remember correctly, I probably enhanced the photo by lightening it a bit. I wanted to make sure that the beautiful architecture didn't get lost in shadow, so I edited it to really shine.

In my camera bag

Here's what I like to have in my camera bag: camera, battery charger, zoom lens, small tripod, extra memory card, memory card reader.

Feedback

Just keep taking pictures. It doesn't have to be a fancy fountain in Central Park. It can be something as simple as a tree outside your house or a beautiful blue sky. Just take photos of any place where you find beauty.
