Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my apartment in West Lafayette.

Time

This photo was taken mid afternoon.

Lighting

This photo was taken with natural light coming in through the window.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D3200 camera with a standard kit lens. No other equipment was used.

Inspiration

When this photo was taken I had just received my new camera. I was anxious to use it. It was right after sweethearts' day. Crazy daisies are my favorite and were given to me as a gift by my now fiancé. I was testing the manual settings when this image was captured.

Editing

I believe the only post processing on this image was a slick tweak to the contrast.

In my camera bag

I am just starting to take my photography more seriously. I always carry my Nikon D3200 body and kit lens. Recently I purchased a new lens, an 18-270mm. I love it! It's now my go to lens until I am able to purchase more.

Feedback

I think when trying to capture close up pictures like this, lighting is key. I was using naturally lighting, but for a better picture, artificial light may be better. One of the biggest things that I have found helps to improves someone's photography is being comfortable with the camera. Take the time to really learn and connect with your camera and lenses.
