Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at Columcille, a private owned park setting with Stonehenge like stones. It is in Bangor, PA. This was one feature as you walk through the park that is open to the public.

Time

I would say the photo was taken late morning.

Lighting

It was a sunny day but lots of tree cover in sections of the park that you could spend a couple hours walking through taking photos.

Equipment

I used a tripod with my Nikon 3200 and just played with settings in Manuel.

Inspiration

A friend and I heard about this place so one day a year or so ago we just drove up and there was only a couple other people there that day. It is on private property but open to the public. www.columcille.org

Editing

This photo was obviously altered by some photoshop but I'm not a big fan of overdoing photos with photoshop. I do like to do little things for enhancement however with lighting, contrast and vibrancy. I rarely do special effects as I did here.

In my camera bag

I don't have a lot of equipment. Just my tripod, my camera and the only lens I have is an 18-270. It works for the things I do. I just like to go around and do what I can do with what I have to work with as a hobby as a retired guy with a couple part time jobs and golf clubs that need a workout a couple times a week.

Feedback

Obvious advice is get the camera off Auto and use Manuel and experiment. With digital you can make mistakes and correct them on the spot unlike in the days of film when you were either elated or disappointed when the pictures came back.
