Behind The Lens
Location
This was taken in my workshop at home, normally used for upcycling and repurposing work it doubles as a handy home studio on occasion.Time
It was taken one evening to try and ensure that the workshop could be as dark as possible.Lighting
The lighting was a highly jury rigged affair making use of a adjustable beam led torch and a old desk lamp. It took me a few goes to get the angles right.Equipment
Canon eos1100d, efs 55-250 lens, Manfrotto tripod, Toshiba laptop, adjustable beam torch and an old desk lamp.Inspiration
I'd been asked to shoot a friends wedding and wanted to somehow make something different of the ring photo. As I suffer from Nephrotic Kidney Syndrome there are times I don't sleep well at night and would sit with a couple of rings playing about with ideas.Editing
only a few minor tweaks in corel paintshop. In my camera bag
I've always got 2 bodys, A canon eos1100d and a eos1 (yep, film).Lenses vary really but the 2 that are always present friends are the efs 55-250 and a sigma 70-210 which just seems to match the eos1 pefectly. A selection of filters for the film camera ,spare memory cards and batteries make up the rest.Feedback
Get the room as dark as possible and use a laptop for remote viewing. As you adjust the lightsource to get the best effect it's easier to see the effect on the screen and get the best angle.
