Location
This photo is of a place in Dorset UK. It's called Durdle Door and is known world wide. The door is so called because of the rock arch formation.Time
I took this photo mid afternoon just after a huge rain storm. The wet ground was great as it made the colours more pronounced.Lighting
The ground was still wet after the rain. I just waited until the sun popped out and lit up the cliff.Equipment
I used a Panasonic lumix GH3 camera with a 14mm lens (28mm full frame equivalent). On a Manfrotto tripod.Inspiration
Durdle Door is an extremely beautiful place. It is also a very popular place to photograph. Strangely it is not often shot by day, being more popular during sunset and sunrise. I wanted to try and capture a good daytime shot for a change.Editing
I took many photos that day from different angles and positions. This particular shot was an HDR shot which was also tone mapped. It just makes the colours are little more contrasty. I also took a long exposure of the same shot, this is also on Viewbug. There was very little other post-processing needed apart from a little brightness and contrast tweaks. In my camera bag
Camera. Lens normally a 14-140 zoom and 12 mm Samyang F2 lens. Hitech filter holder with ND Grads and ND filters. Polariser filter. Remote release cable. Spare battery and sd cards. Also carry good quality tripod... absolutely essential for long exposures.Feedback
Whenever I have an idea of a shot, I always try and get to the place early to explore the area to obtain a good composition. If possible even visit the place days or weeks before. Sometimes it can take many attempts to get the look that you are after. Be patient, if you try hard enough you will be rewarded in the end. I still feel that I could improve this daytime shot and whilst I am happy with it, I will strive to improve.
