Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was taken at the closed down historical steam train railway at mount bell, blue mountains, Australia; before the bushfires

Time

About 1pm in the afternoon, just as shadows start moving again

Lighting

Natural lighting showcases the richness and natural wild beauty of the area being slowly reclaimed by nature

Equipment

Cannon 50D, with a lense hood.

Inspiration

A friend and I like to explore abandoned buildings and locations (known as urban exploration) to capture and share snapshots of how Human footprints are being reclaimed by nature.

Editing

Some light post processing in Lightroom to crop, straighten and dodge/burn some areas to allow the viewer to see finer details that were hidden by any capture issues.

In my camera bag

Other than my camera, I have a selection of lense filters, such as UV for water and high reflection shots, lense hood, tripod, additional batteries and memory cards - emergency and safety kit (masks, gloves, bandages, etc).

Feedback

Don’t be scared to get in your car and go for a drive. Ask locals for the best or little known spots. Go back to a location a few times, you will discover that it is always changing and will provide a more varied overview on your image selections
