Much nicer angle of Cabot Tower than the usual one from the narrows. Love it!

Location
This photo was taken in St. John's, Newfoundland while I was on a week long vacation.Time
It was early afternoon at this point. The sun was high in the sky, but it wasn't hot out at all.Lighting
It was a very clear day so the sun was absolutely beaming.Equipment
The camera used was a Canon EOS Rebel T3, my first DSLR! I've since upgraded to an EOS 60D and given the T3 to my father. Lens was a Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM, I particularly like this lens because changing focus does not move the filter ring. The photo was taken freehand while standing, no flash was required. The only other equipment used was a circular polarizer, hence no motion of the filter ring being a reason I like the lens.Inspiration
I was on a leisurely walk down Signal Hill after visiting Cabot Tower at the top of the hill. I'm not sure why, but something in the back of my mind gave me the thought to turn around. When I saw the view, especially with the sky so blue, I had to take a picture of the tower.Editing
The only post-processing was in a RAW editor, simply minor corrections to contrast and brightness. In my camera bag
It really depends which bag I'm carrying, but at this time I was carrying my smaller bag. The only equipment was my T3 (these days it's the 60D), 18-55, Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS STM, and the polarizing filter. I still have this smaller bag for day hikes and such, but I now have a larger Lowepro Flipside 400 AW. Now, in addition to what I used to carry, I have a spare memory card, Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM, UV filters and circular polarizers for the different filter sizes, microfiber cloths, a Yongnuo YN-565EX II TTL Speedlite, Yongnuo RF-603 Wireless Trigger, Canon Wireless Shutter Release, macro extension tubes, and a Dolica AX620B100 Ball Head Tripod.Feedback
The best advice I can give is to just keep trying. Put yourself out there making photos, getting used to your gear, and one day it'll happen. It doesn't matter how much you plan or practice if mother nature isn't cooperating with you, sometimes you get lucky and she shines like the sun though.
