This photo was taken in my backyard, the Dragon Flies are all around, they love the flowers and other insects! I love the wings on this beauty!Time
This photo was taken in late afternoon.Lighting
Just make sure the sun is behind you, late afternoon or early morning are best times for great lighting to enhance the colors and details. If the sun is high, be sure to shoot in the shade when ever possible.Equipment
Canon 70D with macro lens, free hand. When shooting insects I shoot my macro shots 100% no tripod, since insects move a lot, I find tripods cumbersome and in the way. Hold your breath, steady your hands and shoot!Inspiration
I love bugs, flies, bees, just insects in general. They have such detail and are amazingly put together, you just don't see it unless you get up close and capture their image.Editing
I cropped, added a tad sharpness and contrast and upped the saturation just to enhance the color to what my eyes saw.In my camera bag
I have my 70D Canon Camera a 300ml lens, macro lens, 50ml lens, pancake lens, wide angle lens, filters, cleaning cloth, extra battery and cards and a mini tripod incase I need it. I will bring a long a standard tripod, depending on what I am shooting.Feedback
Patience! Lots of patience! A steady hand and a good eye, try to get a pretty photo with colors and depth of field to make the background blurred so the subject stands out. Manual settings are best but at times auto focus is good for those constantly moving subjects. My personal preferences:)
