This is the view we witnessed when me and husband went to roam around the Summit Avenue of St. Paul, Minnesota USA on the evening of Dec 27, 2013. The gate of James J. Hill house was wide-opened and we went inside and took photos of the beautiful lighting reflecting to the house. This house was built by the railroad magnate James J. Hill. It was completed in 1891. It is a Romanesque architecture, Richardsorian Romanesque. After James J. Hill's death in 1916 and the wife's death in 1921 the children moved out. Four of the daughters purchased again the house and was donated to the Roman Catholic Church of Saint Paul. The Archdiocese preserved it well. In 1961, the United States Department of the Interior designated the house as National Historic Landmark. The Minnesota Historical Society acquired the house in 1978, and the house has been restored and now open for public tours.
