Location
This photo was taken out in my garden in Pretoria, using a mirror lying on the lawn, under trees through which sun was filtering through. The mirror had to be perfectly clean and re-cleaned, and I had to make sure that the feather didn't fly away!Time
It was a beautiful sunny day, all natural light.Lighting
With the sun filtering through the trees, a spot of sunlight just hit the feather in the right place, and the background sun spots made for beautiful bokeh spots. A wide open aperture, made for a soft background, with the garden plants being a few meters away.Equipment
This was taken with a Canon 600D with a 24-105mm lens, hand held, as I needed to get down low to get the background and bokeh spots just right.Inspiration
I had entered a competition at the time, where you get a new topic every week for 52 weeks. The topic that inspired this photo, I think was "As light as a feather".Editing
(I can't remember, but if there was it would have been mimimal ;-))In my camera bag
My goto equipment for most of my photos is a Canon 7D and Canon EF 70-200mm 2.8 L IS USM lens, or Canon EF 24-105mm 4 L IS USM. I prefer nature photos, so without flash, but I do have a Yongnuo Speedlight when needed.Feedback
One would need to find the same conditions, ie sun filtering through trees, greenery in the background, and no wind so that the feather stays put. The mirror needs to be perfectly clean, otherwise you give away that it's there.
