In recent decades, throughout London (England), the shortage of housing and rocketing prices has resulted in increased building on pockets of disused, relocated former light-industrial land, often known as 'brownfield' sites. If any such site - randomly varied as they are - can be described as 'typical', this is a glimpse of one. It's on an irregular piece of land in suburban North London, hemmed in by Victorian 'villas', 1920s'-built flats and shops, 1930s' terraced houses and post-WW2 five storey blocks. Over the years it has become a tipping ground for unwanted and unloved domestic items. Cheaper - much cheaper - than a rubbish skip. Nature has attempted to reclaim the land but now after perhaps 15 years or more of neglect through lack of use, redevelopment of this mess of small buildings and access yard is starting. First step, remove some of the rubbish. It has started. (September-October 2015 - one of a series recording the changes.)
