Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania. They grow water lilies every summer in man-made ponds .

Time

This picture was taken in mid-morning on a sunny summer day

Lighting

Natural light was a bit hazy, just right for this.

Equipment

Nikon D5200, 70-300 mm lens

Inspiration

We go and photograph the water lilies at Longwood every summer, but I have mostly failed to capture a good reflection. This was the first year I used a long lens, and it helped a lot.

Editing

I used Viveza (Nik Collection) to improve contrast and saturation of the reflection. and I added some vignetting.

In my camera bag

Nikon D5200, 10-24 mm , 18-55 mm and 70-300 mm lenses with Polarizing filters. Also UV and ND filters

Feedback

Avoid midday hours, and use a camera with a tilting viewing screen.
