Taken at the Bath Abbey in Bath, England. Absolutely beautiful example of the abbays that are scattered across Europe.

Founded in the 7th century, Bath Abbey was reorganised in the 10th century and rebuilt in the 12th and 16th centuries; major restoration work was carried out by Sir George Gilbert Scott in the 1860s. It is one of the largest examples of Perpendicular Gothic architecture in the West Country.

Welcome to ViewBug, a great place to share your phototures and receive comments and the views of your fellow photographers. I like this moody shot,it's very Gothic in its atmosphere, and works extremely well in mono. I look forward to seeing more of your work in the near future.

Behind The Lens

Location

Bath, England. Specifically the building is the Bath Cathedral.

Time

Taken at noon of a very gloomy day.

Lighting

Mostly how it's very defused and no real direction because of the mid day sun. Helped silhouette the birds nicely.

Equipment

This was actually taken with a hand held GroPro.

Inspiration

It was a spur of the moment shot really. I had just taken out the camera when the birds flew overhead. So I raised the GoPro over my head and clicked the shutter. I was there because I absolutely love old churches and cathedrals. Beautiful examples of religious architecture.

Editing

All I really did was make the photo B&W! Only other thing was turn up the exposure a bit due to the low lighting. Affinity photo is my tool of the trade.

In my camera bag

Nikon 7000 with 2 lenses (wide angle and a telephoto), GoPro, tripod and various filters. Also a 2x teleconverter for some wildlife photos as needed.

Feedback

Be in the moment, be aware. If you see something worth a photo, take it!! Don't pass up an opportunity for a unique shot! :D Happy shooting!
