Location
This photo was taken on the Prairie of Canada, where I live. The Prairies like the ocean, give a sense of infinity. I love the forever feel in this photo.Time
It was with purpose that I took this photo during the golden hour of sunset. The more golden light the better when you are capturing yellow.Lighting
It is the light in this photo that makes it stand out. Since I was wanting the yellow to glow, I needed to wait for the golden hour to kiss my flower. With the sun shinning through the yellow peddles, the magic moment was perfect.Equipment
This was shot with a Professional Pentax DSLR K3. Not a camera as popular as Canon or Nikon, but a camera that can hold its own. The Pentax line of cameras are amazing, and I have been sold out to them for years. Always satisfied with the high quality and rugged built. I used an 16-45 lens. No tripod was used, just an old fashion strap around the neck, held in my hands.Inspiration
I saw the field of sunflowers driving home from work. I could not find a road leading into the patch. I ended up climbing a small hill hand over foot, knowing that when I reached that meadow, I would enter into a field of photographers dreams. The inspirationial juices of yellow, lights, and flowers would unite and create its own art. I was not disappointed!Editing
Landscapes often require some form of processing. In this photo, the sunset glowing through the peddles, brought a perfect balance. Because I took it hand held, it did require a bit of straightening, and that was all.In my camera bag
I am deeply in love with Pentax, and my bag hold a Pentax K3, with a K10 backup. I have two prime lens.....35 mm and a 50mmm. I have two telescopic lens16-45mm 55-300mm. I own one macro 70 mm lens. I find my photo vest indispensable, which carries my camera. I use my remote, and tripod as a team when taking long time lapse photo. It feels like everything I need to play and work, is in my bag.Feedback
My advice on trying to capture a similar set up, would to always be mindful of your light. Use either the early morning or late evening when the sun is low in the sky. Take a few practise shots and review them. Have fun, enjoy the beauty that you are capturing, breath it in to your senses, I promise that it will show in your finished photograph.
