This beautiful leaf cutter bee allowed me close up access to her in the middle of her frenzied building of her nest. She has compiled leaves, petals, pollen, wax, miniscule stones, dirt and sticks cut to size with her powerful jaws, to create a safe haven for her egg. I shoot with a Canon PowerShot (no external lens) so when I say I got close, I mean it. Face to face, while all around both of us other Leaf Cutters are bzzing around us working on their own nest. They are such hard workers, I cannot help but respect them for it.
