Location
This was taken at the bottom of the Currituck Lighthouse in North Carolina. I was on vacation at the time. But, can never really switch off from taking photos. So, luckily I brought my camera. Because, The Outer Banks is one of the best places to take photos.Time
It was around Noon. It was towards the end of Summer last year. It was still hot and despite being the off-season tourists were everywhere. I positioned myself under the stairwell and waited for a bit. I wanted to get a shot without people on the staircase. The sun was beaming through the small windows. I got my moment and snapped away.Lighting
I'm a big fan of natural light. Luckily, it was sunny that day. It had rained tge day before. The stairwell was literally perfectly. Couldn't have asked for a better moment to take the picture.Equipment
Well, I'm a bit embarrassed to say this. I was on vacation and had no intention of taking pictures. But, I did have my Samsung Galaxy. Lol. Which I'm glad I did. I ended up taking quite a few photos that week. Had I brought my Canon. Would it have looked better? Of course! But, there is something about this photo. I love it.Inspiration
It was a beautiful view looking up. I really wanted to capture it. I really hadn't seen a view of the lighthouse from that angle. So, I decided to grab the shot.Editing
A little bit of photoshop to add some shadow and to sharpen the image. That was it. Didn't want to ruin the image by over editing it.In my camera bag
Canon Rebel t3i, Pentax X5, Canon AT-1. Various lenses for the t3i. Lens wipes. Etc...Feedback
I try to capture the moment as I see it. I don't usually plan my shots. To me if it catches my eye. I line it up, get the settings right, and snap the picture.
