Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken on Duncan, Vancouver Island, Canada. Our vacation had involved lots of outdoors and nature. This day was a visit to a Raptor centre. I had been lucky enough to have this hawk fly to my glove during a display.

Time

This was taken mid afternoon. There had not been many opportunities during the morning as it had rained a lot, and the raptors had been kept indoor. The great thing about this as opposed to normal outdoors was that the subject was so close.

Lighting

Not so much about the lighting, but wanted to see the details of the hawk while ignoring the background.

Equipment

This was taken handheld on a Nikon D7000, Nikorr 70-200mm 2.8 lens. No other equipment was used.

Inspiration

I just love seeing Raptors in general. To spend a day with them was just amazing. I want to show people how amazing nature can be.

Editing

Don't think I had to do too much processing on this. Just a few tweaks to get it to look how I wanted.

In my camera bag

My camera is a Nikon D7000. My main lenses are Nikon, 70-200mm 2.8, 18-70mm 2.8 and 200-500mm 5.6 This is primarily for bird/nature photography. I also have a flash, and a Tokina lens 11-16mm for landscapes and architecture.

Feedback

Probably book at a specialist place, or maybe a local zoo. Too get something similar in the wild would take patience and luck.
