Location
In our photography studio located in Melbourne, Australia.Time
I can't remember the exact time. I know it was the night before a uni assignment deadline and I needed one more image to make up the series. Needless to say wary eyed and lethargic it was the best shot of the lot.Lighting
Flash was used. Elinchrom 3000 floor packs with A3000 flash heads.Equipment
Canon 5D MKIII couple with a Carl Zeiss 100mm Macro. Manfrotto studio stand and a 405 geared head for precise accuracy.Inspiration
I had an idea that I wanted to combine a commercial advertising and artistic image together. I visualized what I wanted went for it.Editing
The final image is made up of two shots. The first is only exposing the bottle and the whisky colored liquid. The second shot is capturing the spray, so it was basically just lining up the two images. There was not much post production involved. In my camera bag
Normally I will carry the 5D MKIII with me and the 24-70 at f/2.8 because I love the speed. I also take the 16- 35 for the wide angle shots. I also take a medium format (120 back) Zenza Bronica with the waist level viewfinder for nostalgia. Keeping film alive.Feedback
I found lighting tutorials and books very helpful as the breakdown how to light specific items. Be different and creative; meaning put your own flavor and spin on things. As photography is about personal expression, essentially painting with light.
