Location
This was taken on my way to catch a bus to go home. I'd been in the city for a while and was making the most of the shade on the outside of the park. The district is one of four in the city of Baotou, Inner Mongolia.Time
The time of day is later afternoon, around six pm.Lighting
The sun is strong until mid October and lit the flowerbed through the sparse trees. I wanted to catch the sunlight between two of them to get a better effect, while keeping the coolness of the sky and not overexposing the flowers.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 7D. No other equipment was used though the camera was steadied on the retaining wall of the flowerbed.Inspiration
I just loved the way the light illuminated the flowers and stalks, the colours are naturally vibrant and remind me of summer fields.Editing
This is taken without any editing. It's one of those—for me anyway—rare shots that captured the moment and didn't need any changes applied to it.In my camera bag
Aside from the 7D, I've a 50mm and 24-70mm, lens hood, manual shutter release, a hotshoe flash with remote trigger, Several batteries and a handy dual USB battery charger.Feedback
The places that you pass by on a regular basis can often be ignored because of familiarity. I had walked that path many times as most of it was in the shade. Because I was running late, the sun was lower and it showed a different aspect. Take your time and explore how light can alter your perception of something whether because of the time of day / year or you're in a different position. The simplest change can capture your imagination.
