Location
This photo was taken on the river leven in Balloch not far from loch LomondTime
I walk past this boat on my way to college every morning and always visulised how I would make the photo, I finally did in the late afternoon on the way homeLighting
I really liked the way the boat was highlighted popping the reflection out more in the waterEquipment
I used the Nikon D3300 with the 55-200mm Nikkor lens, the first DSLR I had bought. I didn't use a tripod as I was using a fast shutter speed in the bright light.Inspiration
I have a keen interest in black and white minimalist images and thought this would look really good as that type of image.Editing
I did some minor adjustments in Lightroom to boost the blacks and correct the lens distortion, I then used Google silver fx to convert to black and white, taking advantage of the precision it offers in local adjustmentsIn my camera bag
I now normally carry everything in my Lowepro flipside, my Nikon D7200 with a Sigma 17-50mm F/2.8 a very good everyday lens, a Nikkor 60mm F/2.8 Micro for those times I want to get close. I carry a speedlight, filters, batteries and other bits and pieces of smaller kit in my bag as wellFeedback
I took my time over this image and waited for the light to fall as close to the way I imagined as possible and set out to make the image for myself and it's still one of my favorites
