Location
I took this photo right in my front yard, in my mom's butterfly garden. During the summer the butterflies and moths flock to these flowers, among dozens of other little critters.Time
I believe I took this photo about mid-day, sometime after noon. I can't recall the exact time.Lighting
Since this was shot outside during the day, I didn't really worry too much about the lighting. At the time this photo was taken, the sun was just barely starting to set and the shadow of our house had covered the spot, so there was no direct sunlight.Equipment
I don't own a professional camera or any other accessories. This photo, believe it or not, was taken on my cell phone. I got the LG G4 right after it came out, specifically for the camera that LG incorporated. I wasn't disappointed by the amazing quality, and in fact, all of my photos are taken using my cell phone.Inspiration
My mom is a professional photographer, and I have always had a fascination with photography itself. My mom specializes in family and newborn photography, but has done her fair share of weddings, senior sessions, and just the occasional nature shot. So my main inspiration is my mom, but I just love everything about nature, especially beautiful flowers and bugs. Being able to capture amazing shots of these little creatures doing what they do best in nature is just phenomenal.Editing
The only thing that was done to this picture was balancing the color, and sharpening the image just a tad. Other than that, this photo is exactly how I took it.In my camera bag
Seeing as I don't have a camera, I don't have a camera bag either. One day soon, I will have one!Feedback
Asking advice from a mid-level amateur photographer makes me feel like a professional instead. My advice for capturing shot like this would be don't be afraid to get up close and personal with little creepy crawlies, and to be extremely patient. Most of the time when I'm trying to get a great pic of moths, butterflies, dragonflies, etc; they fly off before I can take the picture. So patience is key, because it can take several minutes to get a beautiful image worth sharing with the world.
