This is a falcon in a nature reserve in the polders of West-Flanders. Next to the nature reserve stand the ugly apartments of the Belgian coast built in the sixties. It is astonishing how such different situations can live next to each other, how human civilisation contrasts with rewilding nature, though they realised to live here in a certain harmony. The people living in the city seek their rest in a walk in this nature reserve, away from the stress, noise and work. In return the nature is protected by the humans. It is the challenge of our century and of my generation to find the balance between nature and human civilisation, and the hope on a better future for all kinds of plants and animals, humans included. This picture of a common kestrel taken in a nature reserve near Blankenberge in Belgium is the example that it is possible.
