One of my favorite locations to shoot during Summer in Southern Oregon is on the summit of Mt. Ashland. Late June into July, depending on the year, is a great opportunity to shoot the wild flowers that grow in that higher elevation.

I initially came up to try and shoot the stars and galaxy once it got dark, but was surprised by an early bloom of wild flowers at the beginning of June. I pulled up to the summit just as the sun was starting to set, so I rushed to the west side of the mountain and found a perfectly place patch of wild flowers for this composition. It just goes to show, you're never in control of the elements when shooting landscapes. Just be thankful you have your gear with you to capture these wonderful moments.
