I had an amazing opportunity to travel to Alaska in August of 2015. I made base in Homer on the Kenai Peninsula. There were amazing views in every direction you looked.

The end of Summer is the peak of Fire Weed season. I'd never seen blossoms like this before. Large patches of pink scattered all of the hill sides as far as you could see. Coming from the northwest, I'm used to have the sun up for a while, and setting sometime around 9, and be dark by 10. Alaska was completely different story. The sun would fall behind the horizon around 10:30 and wouldn't be completely dark till almost 1:00 am. It made waiting for golden hour a test of patience and how much sleep you really needed.

This image is was snapped around 10:30pm, from the Kenai Peninsula looking out towards the Cook Inlet at two active Volcanos. I had no idea the sun would drop directly between them. It was such an amazing surprise!
