Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Central Park, New York City.

Time

It was taken during the early afternoon hours while walking through the park to take pictures for a specific project.

Lighting

I wasn't trying to do anything special with lighting. I am a big fan of "No-Flash" and presenting images as the naked eye sees them. The great part about this is because it was early afternoon, there was no need for a flash. YAAAA!!!!!

Equipment

This image was shot handheld with my COOLPIX P6000.

Inspiration

As I was walking through the park to take pictures for a different project, the flowers grabbed my attention. I just started shooting them and found this gem.

Editing

I do little to zero post-processing. My foray into photography began journalistically, which has resulted in my overwhelming need to present images unedited, straight out of the can. As a journalistic photographer, our goal is to bring the reader into the event, as if they were in attendance. My goal is to take it further and present photographic art following that same ideology - "No-Flash" "No Post-Processing". That being said, I will, at times, do post-processing, however, it is very rare.

In my camera bag

In my bag, "ha, ha, ha, ha..." I tend to carry my smaller camera because its just easier for me these days. I recently purchased my new baby, the Nikon 1 V3. "Love IT!!!" When I'm planning a shoot, however, I will carry my N1V3, CoolPix 6000 & Nikon D70, tripod & monopod. (Planning to purchase the Nikon Z5 very soon.) I carry no extra light to keep me from being tempted.

Feedback

One of my nieces has become interested in photography and this is what I shared with her. First find out what interests you. If you love nature, like I do, take as many pictures of nature as you can. Then, determine what it is about nature that specifically inspires you. Don't be afraid to take that shot. Don't edit yourself as you shoot. When you find a specific subject - Click, Click, Click.... Look at your subject in different ways. Frame your subject, do your "thang" and have fun. Create the art that interests you.
