Have seen formations like this in Aruba. I like the shot and the bokah.

This photo is amazing. I like color of the objects and that the rock tower stands out of other rocks.

Behind The Lens

Location

I was down at a stoney beach just out of Ashburton, Mid Canterbury, New Zealand and I was looking for something to do with the stones so I just hand picked a few that I thought would stack together and stay upright until I had taken the photo.

Time

Mid afternoon on a sunny day.

Lighting

I just worked with the natural light on the day.

Equipment

I took this with my Canon 1000D. I used my EFS 18-55mm lens and if I was using a filter then it would have been a polarising filter.

Inspiration

I had seen a whole lot of rock towers along our Kaikoura Coastline, but they had all be destroyed by the time this was taken and the physics of keeping them up right fascinated me.

Editing

I only tweeking I did was to get the light and colours right.

In my camera bag

I don't have a lot of equipment so - camera, short lens, long lens, polarising filter, a set of macro rings a hot shoe flash (that would work better if I knew how), and a tripod.

Feedback

Just go and give it a go, I think getting down low to the ground and taking it is probably the best advice I can give.
