Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Hancock MI, at an old homestead called the Paavola Homestead.

Time

It was in the early evening while the sun was going down. That's what made for the beautiful lighting on the flower.

Lighting

The sunlight was hitting the flower from the front, the gorgeous oranges and reds in the sunset really helped to pull those colors out of the flower.

Equipment

I used my Canon Rebel T-5 with the stock lens. No tripod or flash, just pure natural sunshine.

Inspiration

The beauty of the flower inspired this as well as the lovely sunset.

Editing

I have not edited this photo at all.

In my camera bag

I usually have several filters, a couple lens, waterproofing gear, lens caps, and cleaning rags.

Feedback

Practice, practice, practice. Play with the macro setting on your camera and watch for that sunlight. Sometimes straighton shots work as it did in this photo, however, having the flower off center adds depth and interest to the photo.
