Location
This photo was taken on the west side of the island of Oahu, Hawaii... where I make my home.Time
I typically find myself in the ocean between 7am and 3pm. This shot of a pin-cushion sea star was taken around 10am.Lighting
As with most of my underwater shots I use Natural Lighting almost exclusively. The only light source in this image is the warm tropical sun.Equipment
This was shot using a Canon 7DmII, a Tokina 10-17 fisheye, and an Aquatech Elite Housing.Inspiration
Sometimes I'll see something that catches my eye on the ocean floor while cruising on the surface. This particular sea star caught my eye because of it's unique color pattern. The yellow-oranges and bright pinks and whites contrasted beautifully with the brilliant blue Hawaiian water.Editing
I do all of my post-processing in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. I use a really cool hardware controller with Lightroom called LoupeDeck. In my camera bag
I am usually shooting either underwater or close to the ocean, shooting landscapes and seascapes. This is what I pack in my Lowepro bag or my RVCA Zak Noyle bag: CANON EOS 7D Mark II with EF-S 18-135mm| Tokina AT-X 107 AF NH Fisheye 10-17mm | Tokina AT-X 116 PRO DX-II 11-16mm f/2.8 | Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 | Oben CT-3581 Carbon Fiber Tripod With BE-126T Ball Head | Aquatech Elite 7D2 Sports Housing | HOYA HD3 CIR-PL and HOYA EVO Antistatic UV filters.Feedback
Have respect for the ocean and all living things in it.
