I love the lovely tones in this. Well done.

Behind The Lens

Location

My photo was taken on a very calm foggy day looking toward our pier. The large bird in the distance had just flown away and I was probably annoyed that I didn’t click the shutter sooner. I was thinking about how the pier made a leading line pointing to the bird and there were beautiful cloud reflections in the water. I stood to the left of the pier to create a diagonal line. I consider myself lucky to live in such a lovely location in Maryland.

Time

It was taken at sunrise.

Lighting

I liked the soft pink light of sunrise. The sun was actually behind me, but it sometimes makes beautiful light in the opposite direction.

Equipment

Nikon D600 No flash Iso 800 to try to photograph the bird in the distance

Inspiration

Probably the calm wind and the pretty light.

Editing

I probably used Adobe lightroom.

In my camera bag

Nikon DSLRand 1 or 2 zoom lenses, spare SD cards, a flash. I carry a tripod if I expect low light or macro photography.

Feedback

I wish I was more of an early riser, so I wouldn’t miss so many photo opportunities. I often try harder when I am on vacation and know the rewards are great. Don’t miss the photos that are close to home. Just because what you planned to photograph isn’t there, don’t stop noticing the other opportunities you might miss. At sunrise and sunset, always check the other direction in case it is interesting as well.
