Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was taken in my back garden. I love flower photography, but I try to capture something of the personality of the flower. To do this, I sometimes photograph the flower close up from all angles, using a shallow depth of field. For this, you really have to use a camera and lens that you can control precisely.

Time

I can't really remember, but probably mid afternoon.

Lighting

The lighting was just average. I know the advice is to take photographs in the early morning or late afternoon for the best lighting conditions, but sometimes that isn't convenient and we just have to make the best of the conditions available at the time.

Equipment

A Nikon D800 I think, or maybe my D810. I could check, but it will have been one or the other. And I used a Nikon micro lens.

Inspiration

I like flowers! Who doesn;t?

Editing

No special post processing. I honestly prefer to try to get things right at the taking stage and do as little post processing as possible.

In my camera bag

I prefer to travel light with just one of my cameras and one lens, depending on where I am going and what I have in mind to photograph.
