A large distinctive raptor with long legs and long neck. Endemic to Africa and placed in its own family. Has long broad wings, and soars strongly, but usually searches for prey by walking though open vegetation; often raises wings when running. Prey often killed by stamping its feet. Renowned for killing snakes and other reptiles. It also eats a range of other smaller animals. Sexes alike. Stats: weigh between 2.8 - 5kg.
