Behind The Lens

Location

My studio.... which is also my home..

Time

7:30 in the evening, but as studios go- could have been 2am in the morning!

Lighting

I used 2 15" x 47" soft boxes with grids- evenly spaced.

Equipment

Canon 60d with standard 18-55mm kit lens, studio soft boxes with grids, back backdrop

Inspiration

He is a gymnast and ripped! I wanted to fully capture the depth of his build and knew side lighting was the answer. I could have gone color, but felt that black & white truly gave the essence of this young man's sculptured physique.

Editing

Basic photoshop clean-up... dodge and burned areas to give the lighting symmetrical balance

In my camera bag

Canon 60d, 2 kit lenses (hoping to upgrade that glass really soon!!), snacks.

Feedback

Angle of lighting is the key... you want to hit that sweet spot- not too far in front... not too far in back.
