I took the photo in Bemidji Lake, Bemidji, Minnesota, USA.Time
It was taken exactly at 9:46 PM on the celebration of the United States Independence.Lighting
I chose the Tungsten white balance in my camera. I was amazed when I uploaded the photos the people appeared glowing. All those who wore white shirts or clothes, they all glow.Equipment
I brought with me my Manfrotto Tripod and 2 camera. One with wide lens, and the 7D with super telephoto lens. I knew that they are going to light the fireworks on the other side of the lake and I knew that the lake is big so I was thinking to use both. Good to have back up. I used also trigger release in 2 cameras, the 7D and the 1D X.Inspiration
I really love the burst of the fireworks. It is very interesting. It is colorful and it is challenging shots because you really need to capture the moment. They will not wait for you. So you must be very active in capturing those. Most of all, I love to be united with the people celebrating the Independence Day. It is an event that we need to be thankful with our history because once and for all we are Independent.Editing
Yes I did a little of cropping and I boast the color a little. In my camera bag
I have 4 cameras, the Canon EOS 7D, Canon EOS 5D II infrared converted, Canon EOS 5Ds, Canon EOS 1D X, I have lenses mounted with those cameras. It depends on what subject i will be taking photo with so from our house I already mounted the lenses to prevent dust and particles on the mirror of my camera. I have 2 Canon trigger release. and Manfrotto Tripod,Feedback
Be there ahead of time so you can scout where to position yourself especially if you don't know the place. If you have 2 or more camera on the tripod good if you have companion so that you can have somebody to block other people who will accidentally be hitting your tripod. Prefocus the lights where you expect the burst be happening. look for foreground, better to use trigger release, and use bulb mood, aperture of 8, ISO of 100, off long exposure noise reduction, Off high ISO noise reduction because you don't need them. Expect the unexpected. Be happy always because your shot is a reflection of your mood.
