So two nights after the epic aurora event, I went back out in search of more lights in the sky.
My friend John Bosman and I headed out to Medicine Lake Montana to try to catch the aurora, and have a couple of "barley pops". We never did get any aurora shots that night, but we did find that Medicine Lake is a Federal Game Preserve that is mainly a preserve for ducks and pelicans. Also at the lake they are apparently having issues with foxes eating the pelican eggs on a tiny peninsula that is now guarded with an electric fence and has a number of box traps placed nearby.
While we had no luck with aurora shots that night, I have it in mind for some future shoots, and we did leave with some great sunset shots as well. This image is a reflection shot off of the lake.
