Very cool looking!

Behind The Lens

Location
Near Ouray, CO
Time
Sunset and after dark..
Lighting
Lighting was natural light only.
Equipment
Camera: Nikon D810, Lens: Sigma 24-70 f2.8 Tripod: Induro with RRS BH-55 head
Inspiration
I had wanted to shoot this peak for quite awhile and I finally got up there to do so. I wanted to try a blend of sunset and Milky Way and accomplished it.
Editing
Yes this is a blended image. The foreground/sunset was shot at 24mm and the MW was shot at 70mm. The two shots were blended together in PS for the dramatic “sunset and Milky Way” look
In my camera bag
The above plus a Nikon z-6, Tamron 15-30mm, too many lenses typically (lol), lots of batteries, water, etc. I also carry a raincoat/cover for the camera and lens typically
Feedback
Just stay persistent, plan your shot (using PhotoPills or similar), and if nobody wants to go out with you be bold enough to go out alone. It can be a little scary at night but it’s worth every minute! Hi early, scout your shots, get set up and wait for the magic! Patience is KEY
