Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in South East Alaska in St. Petersburg. As our boat was pulling into the moor, eagles were swooping down all around us pulling fish out of the water!

Time

This photo was taken around high noon, which you can maybe tell by how hungry the bald eagle is!

Lighting

Because it was so bright out, I had to wait for the eagle to be diving where it wouldn't be washed out by the bright light.

Equipment

This was shot on a canon t5i with a 55-250 mm lens. No other equipment was used.

Inspiration

I was taking an amazing trip through Alaska. I have always wanted to go and be able to see all the wildlife that you really can't see anywhere else.

Editing

There was very little post processing on this photo because I think it is ofteb important to stay as true to the moment as possible. This photo was cropped and has the saturation pulled up slightly.

In my camera bag

I normally carry my t5i, and now (I didn't have this at the time of this photo) I carry a tamron 16-300 lens. It's really good for traveling if you don't know what kind of photos you'll need to take, and it's very light!

Feedback

Don't be discouraged by 'bad' photos! It can take many tries and a lot of patience to get just the right photo, especially when photographing wildlife. You have to be prepared to fill up a memory card to get the perfect shot. If you stop at anything less, you'll be disappointed later.
