This beautiful yacht again took part in the famous Round The Island Race, around the Isle of Wight, England, a distance of 55 miles, starting and finishing at Cowes. 1600 yachts took part this year!! The first race took place in 1931 with 25 entries and it was indeed one of the smaller boats which won. The successful skipper, Peter Brett, competed in a 22 foot Cornish fishing boat "Merry Conceit". Now, amateur skippers and crews and professional racing crews take part on yachts of all sizes from 30 ft length to 100 ft!
Just before 1030 the biggest multihull in the race, the MOD70 Concise 10, came in sight around the headland off East Cowes, sailing close hauled at an incredible speed of more than 20 knots and well ahead of any other boats in the race. She tacked for the finish and crossed the line at 1040, giving her an elapsed time of three hours, 30 minutes and 24 seconds.
